Dachshunds come in three coat varieties; smooth, longhaired and wirehaired plus they can be miniature or standard size. Doxie breed enthusiasts say there are subtle differences among the varieties. The longhaired Dachshunds have an elegant appearance with their sleek, silky coat and its wavy feathering on the belly, legs, fore chest, neck, and ears. Some claim that the longhaired Dachshunds are a little quieter, more docile and cuddliest of the three types.
