A relatively new breed, the Alaskan Klee Kai entered the scene in the 1970s as a companion sized breed with prominent northern heritage. A combination of Siberian and Alaskan Husky, the Schipperke and American Eskimo Dog, the Alaskan Klee Kai, also referred to as the Miniature Alaskan Husky, is a highly energetic, intelligent spitz dog breed. Though sometimes shy, the Alaskan Klee Kai is known to be a fiercely loyal dog and excels in agility and obedience classes and events.

The Alaskan Klee Kai may be a relatively new breed, but with it comes a rich history. Produced in the 1970s in Wasilla, Alaska, the Alaskan Klee Kai is a combination of several breeds of prominent sled dogs, including the Alaskan Husky and Siberian Husky. Similar in appearance to its larger ancestors, the Alaskan Klee Kai was bred solely for companionship. Small to medium in size, the spitz family member earned the name Klee Kai from the Eskimo words that translate to “little dog.”
