Originally bred as a personal protection dog, the Doberman Pinscher, also referred to as the Doberman or the Dobie, is a fiercely loyal and easily trainable member of the working group. The Doberman first emerged in Germany in the mid-1800s by crossing a variety of breeds, including the German Pinscher, Rottweiler, and Weimaraner. The Doberman is also recognized for its intellect and has been ranked as one of the most intelligent breeds when it comes to obedience command training. The trainability of the Doberman mixed with its athletic and noble appearance make this working breed a fearless competitor in conformation shows worldwide.
