Originally bred in the United Kingdom in the 19th century as a guard dog, the Bullmastiff is a large and powerful breed with a mild, sensitive personality. With a lineage of both Mastiff and Bulldog, the Bullmastiff is strong, fast, and determined. A natural-born protector, the Bullmastiff is instinctively territorial, which makes the massive breed an excellent watchdog. A member of the working group, the Bullmastiff enjoys a variety of physical activities, including obedience, tracking, and agility training.

Weighing up to 130 pounds, the Bullmastiff may be big, but is not boisterous. The docile breed is known for its calm temperament and affectionate nature, especially with children. There is no shortage of loyalty when it comes to the Bullmastiff. Owners of the Bullmastiff can expect an abundance of slobbery kisses from this lovably large breed.
