A giant breed with a rich history, the Cane Corso is a mighty member of the working group. Also known as the Italian Mastiff, the Cane Corso’s name in Latin translates to “Protector Dog”, a fitting name considering the Cane Corso was bred to guard property against intruders in ancient Italy. A similar breed to the Neapolitan Mastiff, the Cane Corso is a muscular, athletic, and highly protective family companion. No task is too great for the Cane Corso, as the colossal breed excels in cattle herding and wild boar hunting.

A natural born athlete, the Cane Corso gives off an impression of great strength and power, features that help deter intruders and make this brawny breed a fantastic farm helper. Though the breed is immensely active and extraordinarily independent, the Cane Corso is happiest when close to its family. The demeanor of the Cane Corso is calm and quiet, and this highly trainable breed demonstrates patience around even the youngest members of the family.
